    The Agricultural Training Program seeks to improve the agricultural skills of students and promoting cultural integration among peoples of diverse cultures. The program is designed to enable the Exchange Visitor to better understand United States agricultural practices, culture, and society and to enhance the American knowledge of foreign cultures and skills providing the opportunity for an open exchange of ideas between the Exchange Visitor and their United States counterparts.

    International College and University students and recent graduates of agriculture and related fields can spend up to one year living and training in the United States in selected areas of agriculture related to their interests in the agricultural field. Participants are introduced to the United States culture by living in farming communities in the United States, in most cases with U.S. families, while learning through cultural, social, and agricultural training.

  •     The training and cultural exchange objectives are achievable through the structure of the program that an extended stay in the US in the setting orchestrated under the conditions afforded by the J-1 training visa.

        The Agricultural Training and Experience offered Program is throughout the year for a maximum duration of 12 months. After completion of their program, the participant is able to travel for an additional 30 days within the US. The participant is not allowed to train during this grace period of 30 days. Therefore, the total duration of the program is a maximum of 12 months, during which the participant is eligible to train, plus 30 days for travel purposes.

       Worldwide Farmers Exchange has a very diverse array of placements. Our placements range from beekeeping to wine making. The following is a partial list of placements.

  • Beekeeping


  • Spirit Mountain Beekeeping
    Spirit Mountain, ID is headquarters but the intern will travel throughout the western United States with the bees. This is a family placement.

    Honey Land Farms
    Saukville, Wisconsin is the base of Honey Land Farms but the exchange farmer will travel extensively from Wisconsin to Florida. This is a family placement.

  • Dairy
  •    Worldwide Farmers has over fifty dairy placements from California to Maine. A small sampling of these farms follows.

    Dream and Do Farm
    Piermont, New Hampshire 200 acres of milk and breeding stock along with a vegetable garden. The farms employs two full time people and one part time person. The placement is a family placement.

    Barreto & Silveira
    Hanford, CA Well over 1000 acres of farm and dairy located in California's central valley. The farm employs 12 people. The placement is independent.

    Prestrud Dairy
    Prairie Farm, Wisconsin 255 acres and 180 dairy cows. The farm has one full time employee and several part time milkers. The placement is a family placement.

    Goodrich Farms
    New Richmond, Wisconsin 1000 acres of dairy cows and field crops. There are two full time employees at this independent placement.

    Cass Dairy
    Hartville, Missouri The dairy is 253 acres. Cass Dairy is a family placement.

  • Horse placements
  •    Worldwide Farmers Exchange has fifteen different horse facilities where people may be placed. There are placements in breeding, care, dressage, and racing.

    Fieldstone Farm
    Halifax, Massachusetts This is a placement where people who do not have enough land of their own to care for their horses house their animals. It is a family placement with two full time employees.

    Greyledge Farm, Inc.
    Durham, Connecticut This small eleven acre placement is an independent breeding placement. Greyledge employs five full time employees.

    Pine Fall Farm
    Lunenburg, Massachusetts This 7.5 acre placement is a an independent living horse care and training facility. There is one employee.

  • Horticulture
  •    Worldwide Farmers Exchange has over one hundred horticultural placement possibilities. The placements are from Hawaii to Florida to Maine. The placements are very diverse ranging from apple cultivation to orchids.

    Herman Engelmann Greenhouses
    Apopka, Florida This large producer of high quality indoor foliage offers a diverse array of placement possibilities. The individual could be exposed to everything from propagation to distribution. This 215 employee facility offers independent living arrangements.

    Ricker Hill Orchards
    Turner. Maine This is a very well respected 750 acre apple and cranberry producer. There are 75 employees at this independent living placement.

    Hines Color
    Pipersville, Pennsylvania This placement has 14 acres of greenhouses and produces ornamental flowers. There are 35 employees at this independent placement.

    Richard Watanabe Farm
    Kula, Hawaii This placement produces vegetable crops for both sale in Hawaii and for shipping to the mainland. It is an independent living placement with two employees.

    Na Pua 'O Hana Helani Farm
    Hana, Hawaii Three employees work on this 60 acre cut flower producer. Housing is independent.

    Pleasant View Gardens
    Loudon, New Hampshire This placement produces roses and other cut flowers. It is an independent placement.
